Five Microsoft exams took new objectives in the same week of July

Microsoft does not announce exam updates the way AWS does. There is no changelog and no version number. What there is, at the top of every study guide, is a single line: "Skills measured as of" followed by a date. That date is the contract — everything the exam asks you today comes from that version of the objectives.

Read those lines across the exams we cover and a cluster jumps out: five of them landed in the same week of July 2026.

Three of the five are the fundamentals exams, and two are the Fabric pair. That is the shape of a platform-wide refresh, not five independent decisions.

What the date actually tells you

It tells you two useful things and one uncomfortable one.

The useful ones: any study material written before that date may be teaching an older list of objectives, and any exam attempt from that date onwards is measured against the new one. Microsoft also notes in each guide that localised versions follow the English one by roughly eight weeks, so if you sit the exam in another language the timing differs.

The uncomfortable one: Microsoft does not publish what changed. Unlike AWS, which prints the old and new wording side by side, a Microsoft guide shows you only the current objectives. The only way to know what moved is to have kept the previous version — which is exactly why we snapshot every guide we depend on.

The exams on older dates

Not everything moved in July. Three of the exams we cover are still on earlier objectives:

• PL-300 · Power BI Data Analyst — 20 April 2026
• DP-750 · Data Engineering with Azure Databricks — 11 March 2026

An older date is not a problem in itself. It means the role has not been redefined recently, and the material you study has had longer to settle.

What we do when a date moves
